Firstly,
PAF stands for Postoffice Address File, which is maintained by the Royal
Mail. When you enter a postcode, we search this file for the
correct and up to date address data from the royal mail address
file. We apply updates to this address file every month.

We
offer two levels of searching this database, Full PAF Address search or Thoroughfare
PAF Address search, the difference is listed in detail below:
Full PAF

Returns Full address record from Postcode. The user
enters a Postcode, and is presented with a list of all Buildings, within
the matching Postcode, and selects address from list.
[See Pricing]
When
using the the FULL PAF license selects the address
from list
Thoroughfare (Street Level) PAF Address
information
Returns partial address from Postcode. The user enters the
premises name/number. This is cheaper than FULL
address but not so convenient since the user has to type the Name or
number of building. [See Pricing]
When
using the the thoroughfare license the user must enter the building name or
number, before using the address The
Desktop Client can be forced to
always use a Thoroughfare License by selecting "Options
>> Use Thoroughfare License" menu. This allows some
users to use Full PAF Postcode Lookup Address searching, and others to use
the cheaper PAF thoroughfare licenses.
If you have only purchased a
thoroughfare license, then the Desktop software will default to thoroughfare
address search.

PostZon
Data for Longitude, Latitude and distance between
This is specialised data such as OS reference, Longitude, Latitude, NHS District
, Health Authority codes, Local Authority Electoral Ward codes.
The data has been consolidated from various sources, such as Ordinate
Services, NHS, etc. The most useful information is Longitude and
Latitude. [See Pricing]
Also the distance between two postcode can be
returned. So approximate charges could be applied to a customer
based on the straight line distance.
Note: Some Postcodes return no PostZon Data, such as PO
Boxes. It is a good idea to test any bespoke program against such
postcodes. Examples are AB10 1BH, AB10 1DQ, AB10 1DU, AB10 1EP.
